New Logo for Myself

I originally made this just to be a still image to add to my resume to be my artist's logo. Then I wanted to animate it, so I went into a rabbit hole of testing bone constraints to animate every part of the letters trailing after another by just moving the last bone in the line.

Made in Blender, inspired by a Futura poster made by u/Hermanthewurm on Reddit.

I struggled for a little bit on how to make the letters match the reference view with the letters staying straight on from the front, but then I realized since I'm working in 3D I can cheat and just skew the geometry.

Those little boxes on the right are part of an armature to control some blendshapes for the first three letters so I can animate them moving like in the gif.

There's only three keyframes on each of the bottom three boxes in the rig. The first frame is the unextended position, a frame right in the middle of the timeline is extended like this, and the last frame is back to first position.

To make the arms do the wave like I wanted, all I had to do was adjust the curves on the middle keyframes of each. The first letter gets extended faster and takes longer to retract, and the middle is just straight ahead animation and the last is opposite

The rig is made up of these 12 bones, each with a limit location constraint to make moving them easier and limited. The top three in each file also have an armature constraint to the next one down with less influence to control the colors how I wanted.

The last in each file only has a limit location constraint, but since they act as the end of a tail of bones, they control the motion of the others by just moving these.
